Roses and Radishes may be a new business, but my gardening journey began 25 years ago when my husband and I moved into our first home together. The small garden that came with it needed care, and as I learned how to maintain it, I quickly discovered a deep passion for horticulture. This love for plants soon led me to start a garden maintenance business, which I successfully ran for eight years—first in London and later in Cheltenham.
Working as a gardener, I gained extensive knowledge in both ornamental and vegetable gardening. Working in different gardens allowed me to adapt to a variety of conditions and develop strong problem-solving skills. Many of my elderly clients had spent a lifetime tending to their own gardens and shared their wisdom with me, passing down valuable insights that shaped my approach to gardening. Their experience reinforced the importance of learning from those with more knowledge—a principle that now drives me to help others gain confidence in their own gardening skills.
I remember how uncertain I felt when I first started. The wealth of information available can feel overwhelming, and I know how valuable it is to have a mentor to guide the way. That’s why I created Roses and Radishes—to offer others the same kind of support that helped me grow into the gardener I am today.
Gardening is more than just a profession for me—it’s where I feel truly content. Though I’ve had office-based jobs in the past, I’ve always been happiest when working outdoors, surrounded by nature. In recent years, I’ve faced significant personal challenges, including the unexpected loss of my mother, which contributed to a chronic pain condition brought on by stress. During this difficult time, even the simplest, low-impact gardening tasks became an essential part of my healing process, offering comfort and a way to reconnect with myself.
That experience reinforced my belief that gardening has the power to support both physical and mental well-being. I want to help others discover this for themselves—whether by learning how to grow their own food, create a peaceful outdoor space, or simply find joy in working with their hands.
I am launching Roses and Radishes as a solo venture, but my long-term goal is to build a team that can bring expert gardening guidance to even more people. I want to help individuals across Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Somerset, Herefordshire, and Warwickshire develop the skills they need to create and maintain gardens they love. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your approach, my personalised coaching is designed to make gardening accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding.
If you’re ready to gain confidence in your gardening skills, I’d love to help. Contact me today, and let’s work together to create an outdoor space that truly works for you.
